Ray Sutton Shield side undefeated after 3 Rounds!

Ray Sutton Shield – Round 1 v Southern Districts – 16/10/16

The weather didn’t do us any favours and ended up a washout.

Ray Sutton Shield – Round 2 – Woodville defeated Adelaide – 23/10/16

We took on Adelaide in Round 2 at Woodville Oval. Won the toss, chose to bat and unfortunately looked to be in a little trouble at 3/36 in the 19th over. Then Lukas Cooke and Luca Bernardi came to the crease and put on a 112 run partnership to see us 3/148 after our 40 overs. Lukas 51 not out and Luca 48 not out.

Adelaide came out to bat and again, we were looking in a little trouble when they were 1/92 off 24 overs… then the wickets started falling. They lost 8 wickets for 45 runs in the last 16 overs (including 4 runouts) to be 9/137 at the end of the match. Pick of the bowlers was Bodie McNeil with 3/12 off 6 overs.

Ray Sutton Shield – Round 3 – Woodville defeated West Torrens – 30/10/16

We went to Henley High School to take on West Torrens. It was cold, windy and a little bit wet. We won the toss and chose to bat. At 6/37 off 14 overs, things were looking dire. A strong performance by our tail enders saw us recover to be 10/128, losing our last wicket in the 40th over. Pick of the batsmen, Jack Weckert 31 off 52 balls along with some handy runs by Kobe Burt, Shannon Hames, Bodie McNeil

and Patrick Weckert who helped give us something to bowl at. West Torrens were 3/70 at the half-way mark. We needed quick wickets again. 5/91 at 30 overs anything was possible. They ended up falling 4 runs short at 9/124 off their 40 overs. The boys scraped over the line to win in a very exciting and a little bit stressful finish.
