Peckers Run Machine Conor McInerney to make Sheffield Shield Debut

Woodville Cricket Club opening batsman Conor McInerney is set to make his first-class debut for South Australia against Tasmania on Monday.

McInerney has been a part of the SACA’s Emerging Redbacks squad since 2016 and burst onto the scene with an unbeaten 95 off 62 for a West End Redbacks XI against the Adelaide Strikers in December. He was consequently recalled to the Toyota Futures League side in January.

He has since made four half-centuries in the Second XI competition, including 68 and 72 in SA’s most recent match against a strong New South Wales outfit.

The left-hander has also had an impressive Premier Cricket season to date with 718 runs in the two-day competition, and he has made four centuries and a high score of 150 across all formats.

The Redbacks are still a chance of securing a spot in the JLT Sheffield Shield Final despite sitting at the foot of the table, with two matches remaining.

The final XI will be announced at the toss.
