Woodville’s Bodie McNeil is the round two winner of the ‘Junior Player of the Round’ after his outstanding performance with the ball in his side’s victory over Port Adelaide on the weekend. McNeil tore through the Magpies batting line up, ending with figures of 5/25 from his five overs.
After Woodville Captain Lukas Cooke won the toss and elected to bat, opening batsman Jeremy Bertram (62) made a solid start for the Peckers. Some handy wickets to Josh Bevan (3/42) had the Peckers sweating before Jack O’Neil (58*) smashed some late runs to see Woodville finish their 40 overs 7/270.
In reply, Port Adelaide opening batter James Allen-Day (40) put up a good fight for the Magpies before McNeil was given the ball. In just five overs McNeil claimed the scalps of five Port Adelaide batters in a spell, two of which were caught and bowled. McNeil also played his part in the field, throwing the stumps down to dismiss one of the Port Adelaide batsman.
Bodie will be automatically included in the Junior Team of the Year and will be invited to attend a function at Adelaide Oval at the end of the season acknowledging his outstanding performance over the season, along with other nominees.
